We crack it up to “Getting Old” but honestly we don’t have to accept that. Yes, there is to some degree wear and tear of our bodies. But really, it comes down to a choice of how much of this process of inflammation are we going to accept before we do something about it….
Yes, you do have a choice. You can just accept it, you can treat it allopathically or you can treat it naturally. I choose naturally and here is why.
First of all, Naturally allows for the body to tap into the natural innate mode of healing. Sure allopathic medicine can decrease pain but it almost never fixes this kind of issue and almost always contributes to the cause. Basically they was return customers. You don’t have to accept this.
Often the natural treatments eventually give long term relief if followed correctly. These usually involve a lifestyle change. This is where it looses many people. Most people are not willing to give up their currently way of living or they are not willing to wait it out long enough for the results to happen. They expect a quick fix as allopathy has taught society to think. But it’s never a complete fix.
It’s all about pH. You body wants to be more alkaline. An acidic body pH gives way to an ideal breeding ground for inflammation, infection and even cancer. Getting that pH under control will always result in decreased pain. Three things you can do to decrease your own inflammation:
- Modify your diet – Improper Diet it the single most important cause of inflammation today. In the western world we stick with our comfort food which is usually high in Carbs. The carb breakdown product product a high amount of acid within our bodies. An acidic environment breeds awesome conditions for inflammation to thrive. Our bodies are meant to operate at an average pH of 7.2 to 7.4 which is slightly alkaline. Adding at least half a plate full of vegetables every meals is a good start. And honestly, once you start this change, after a few weeks your body will crave it more. Visit Dr. Axe’s article on “Top 15 Anti-Inflammatory Foods” for more information on how you can incorporate an Anti-Inflammatory lifestyle.
- Baking soda – This is a little trick I teach many of my clients. It’s a trick that seems to help kick start them towards a more alkaline body. First of all you need to be drinking at least 8 cups of water. If you can’t sometimes this trick help you drink more as well. Sometimes you body isn’t craving water because it may not be the right pH for it. However, the huge pay off in this trick is the advantages this trick give. Starting with 1/2 tsp of baking soda in 500 mls (2 cups) of water in between meals will help bring your body back to an alkaline pH. People say Baking soda is the cancer cure that Big Pharma doesn’t want you to know about it. I won’t make claims to that but it definitely can help in these areas if you choose to go the natural route. Learn more about baking soda in this article “Drinking baking soda could be an inexpensive, safe way to combat autoimmune disease”.
- Apple Cider Vinegar – Lastly, despite the fact that in the name vinegar, which we all know to be slightly acid, this vinegar is one of the only ones that actually cause the body to become more alkaline. I recommend at the very least one tablespoon per 500 mls of water in the morning and at night. Of course if you can handle the taste, increasing this won’t hurt. ACV, in raw form with an active culture in it (Braggs), is also a probiotic therefore can help with gut health as well. If you can’t handle the taste, try ACV in pill form from your local natural health store. Learn more about ACV in this article about “How Apple Cider Vinegar Can Help You Treat Arthritis & Joint Pain.”
There are also many herbs out there that help to reduce inflammation but many complain that they don’t always work. Honestly, it is because you haven’t changed your lifestyle. They would help more if you used the above three steps to change your lifestyle and raise that pH.
