This is a bunch of crap! Normally I prefer to read real news articles which are uncensored at Epoch Times, however today, they are pulling a trick from the legacy media’s book with their headline.
Notice that they say in this article snapshot “linked?” They stated that a salmonella outbreak was linked to raw dog food. This is just a fake news attention grabber! Upon reading the rest of the article you will find that this is not the case.
The article at Epoch Times states that raw dog food is likely the source….. not that it was linked. Don’t let the headline fool you. Contact with cattle also possible source which indicates they don’t know and public health are flinging out anything that they don’t like the public doing.
I used to raise purebred dogs and here is what I know. I researched raw food extensively and transmission of salmonella is actually a line of BS that public health will give you because they think your pet should be on unnatural food.
Raw food is the natural diet of dogs. It’s mostly of raw meat but does have a small amount of vegetables within it as dogs generally do take in some naturally through direct intake or the stomach contents if their prey in the wild.
Their stomachs are designed to digest bacteria like salmonella. And studies that I found years ago indicated that salmonella was not transmitted in their feces.
What raw food does do for the dog: it makes their coat 100 times more healthy. And this makes sense because they are digesting readily available natural oils, vitamins, minerals, proteins, fats, etc within the raw meat that they normally don’t get in dry kibbled dog food.
Their poops are so much more healthier indicating also that they are accessing the readily available nutrients in raw food that isn’t available in the dry kibble which is full of fillers. Their poops literally disintegrate and degrade back into the soil within a few days because there are no fillers being passed out into the stool.
When you go on a raw diet (for humans that means mostly vegetables), your feces and bodily function changes too for the better. So when many of us think of our pets as our family, this is one way we can give them the best.
The problems with raw diets for dogs: it can be very expensive today with the rising cost of groceries. And with larger dogs that can be a problem.
There is also the preparation. There are more raw dog food companies out there now so preparing it isn’t so hard now. But if you are doing it from scratch, getting the right recipe can be difficult. Not to mention the preparation time.
In rare cases where your dog is consuming wild meat, you probably use some form of dewormer on your dog, whether it’s natural or otherwise. If you have no control on the source of the meat, I would recommend deworming. Sometimes it’s as simple as using diatomaceous earth.
Myths: there was a myth that as soon as a dog tasted blood or raw meat, it would attack his human. There is nothing further from the truth. When I served raw to my dogs I never had a problem. My dogs remained loyal to the end. There is no evidence of this to date unless a dog has been abused.
Anyone who serves raw finds vets amazed at the perfect health of their dogs. Many keep their mouths shut because vets are caught in that same illusion as our doctors are with the promotion of drugs and Pharma. They have to promote the high cost dog food companies.
And for sure, the other myth that has surfaced from time to time is the salmonella spreading. This has yet to be proven and according to this article they haven’t proven it still. So don’t let the headlines fool you. They have not linked it or even proven it to be linked to raw dog food.
